Marcus Graduate Thrives with Community Support

Corbin Staples is a 2024 graduate of Marcus High School and currently attends Stephen F. Austin State University. As the recipient of the Highland Village Rotary Club Scholarship, awarded to a Marcus High School student who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, rank in the top 25% of their class, and is involved in at least two campus activities - Corbin reflects on how this support eased the financial pressures of college and opened the door to a more engaged and well-rounded first semester experience.

“Receiving an LEF scholarship meant that I didn't have to worry as much about how I was going to pay for college; I could focus on my success and things that were important to me. This gave me the opportunity to get a job & run for Executive Board on several clubs my first semester, and really focus on my academics. I was honored to receive mine, and it really put me in contact with more parts of my Flower Mound community.

P.S. - Having to figure out how to apply that scholarship to my E-Bill really helped with figuring out the financial software for a new University, and it helped me get in contact with departments I'd need in the future. I LOVE LEF!”
