MHS Alumnus Plans to Change World as Diplomat and Public Servant

Owen-Oppenheimer

Owen Oppenheimer is a 2023 graduate of Marcus High School and recipient of the Lewisville ISD Council of the PTA’s scholarship. He is currently attending American University in Washington D.C.

Majoring in International Studies with an interest in Foreign Policy and National Security, his goal is to become a diplomat and work for the United States Foreign Service.

“I am so grateful for the Council of PTAs and their never-ending journey to improve the lives of LISD students, even when they graduate,” says Oppenheimer. “I want to thank the Marcus High School PTSA for supporting me with my candidate forum and Principal Will Skelton for teaching how to navigate complicated situations and listen to others.”

Oppenheimer was one of over 300 Lewisville ISD seniors who received an LEF scholarship last spring. On top of the community support and accolades he received, the scholarship helped him financially, purchasing physical textbooks he was more comfortable with instead of digital versions.

“Receiving an LEF scholarship meant not having to choose between the way I learn best, through physical textbooks, and something more difficult like reading a PDF. My scholarship allowed me to offset the cost of books and made learning easier for me in college,” he says.

LEF is proud to be represented by wonderful scholarship recipients like Owen Oppenheimer and look forward to following his journey and career as a future diplomat.
