Cindy Nix Memorial Scholarship
We are honored to announce the creation of the Cindy Nix Memorial Scholarship. Cindy was an educator for 36 years and worked as a teacher in LISD for 29 of those, with the majority at Arbor Creek Middle School. As an English teacher, Ms. Nix was a charismatic and caring educator who held her students to high expectations while providing a safe space to express their individuality. Her classroom was bright, exotic, and filled with Florida State fanfare. Her students worked hard and always enjoyed her rendition of Happy Birthday, often from on top of a desk adorned in birthday decorations. Her school dress-up days were epic!
As a friend, Cindy was loyal and accepted everyone regardless of race, gender, or level of craziness. She always gave the best advice and would end it with a quirky zing to make you laugh. Cindy Nix was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her grandson more than anything in this world.
The Cindy Nix Memorial Scholarship honors her dedication to teaching English, and we are proud to have the opportunity to continue her legacy of supporting the students of Lewisville ISD through the creation and maintenance of this scholarship fund. She was an LISD community member for 29 years who made a lasting impression on students, parents, and staff.
