Lewisville ISD Education Foundation Awards $105,350 to LISD Graduating Seniors
The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation honored 161 seniors from across the Lewisville Independent School District with scholarships to continue their education.
Lewisville, TX, May 21, 2008: On May 8, 2008, the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) recognized 161 graduating seniors with scholarships for continued education. The recognition ceremony was held in the Lewisville High School auditorium and provided many scholarship recipients with an opportunity to meet respective donors.
In making selections, the LEF Scholarship Allocations Committee, led by LEF Board Member Pam Nelson, read over 400 applications from across the school district and worked diligently to match qualified candidates to various scholarships and criteria. In addition to awarding senior scholarship, the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation also had the privilege of recognizing three outstanding educators in LISD receiving fellowships for post-graduate education. They include:
Jennifer Culver, Hebron High – recipient of Carolyn Vines Teacher Fellowship
Lilian Bouchillon, Central Elementary - recipient of Mack & Minnie Mae Bogard Fellowship
Tammy Metcalf, Huffines Middle - recipient of Saturn of Lewisville Special Education Teacher Fellowship
The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation is a passionate group of community volunteers dedicated to investing in the future of our children. Founded in 1990, LEF is a public, non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation that raises money to encourage innovative teaching and higher education for the 13 cities served by LISD. From its inception, LEF has awarded over $1,158,836 in different program areas and given $818,525 in senior scholarships to 1,417 students.
